The multi-layer system

The best-known misunderstanding is that thick (work) clothing is the best option for cold conditions. Nothing could be further from the truth! The multi-layer system is the best choice. The different layers each have a unique function.

LAYER A: THERMO UNDERWEAR

Perspiration cools the body. Hard work means sweating, even in cold conditions. The perspiration on the skin cools the body. The moisture must therefore be removed quickly to stay warm in cold conditions. That is why thermal underwear forms the basis for the multi-layer system. Thermal underwear has a highly breathable effect and ensures that perspiration is quickly removed. Bamboo is often used in thermal clothing because of the anti-bacterial effect of this material. It prevents unpleasant odors. Try ours now thermal underwear, shirt and inner jacket!

LAYER B: INSULATING INTERMEDIATE LAYER

The insulating intermediate layer is not only intended to create more warmth: this intermediate layer also ensures that perspiration can be properly removed. It is important to choose optimal freedom of movement. That only improves comfort. How thick the insulating intermediate layer should be depends on a number of different factors: the temperature and the weather conditions. It may be sufficient to wear only thermal underwear and an insulating midlayer, for example if it is not that cold and rain and wind are not an issue. Work clothes that is suitable as an insulating intermediate layer is, for example, a T-shirt, sweater or a combination.

LAYER C: PROTECTION AGAINST THE WEATHER

Rain, snow and wind immediately make the temperature feel a lot colder. That is why the last layer of the multi-layer system consists of work clothing that provides protection against the weather conditions. Jackets, parkas and coats are suitable for this outer layer. It is important to choose (work) clothing that not only offers protection against rain and wind, but also has sufficient breathability. The breathability ensures good drainage of perspiration. Softshell jackets for example, are extremely suitable for moderately cold temperatures, light rain and snowfall. Parkas and midi parkas are suitable for heavier weather and colder temperatures. Parkas, equipped with a removable thermal inner lining, can be adapted to changing weather conditions.
